Culver-Stockton boots Baker in overtime

? Tom McDaniel connected on a 30-yard field goal in overtime, giving Culver-Stockton (Mo.) a 20-17 victory against Baker University in Heart of America Athletic Conference football action Saturday.

Down 10-0 at the half, Baker (3-6 overall, 3-6 HAAC) scored 17 unanswered points after the break. The run included a 40-yard interception return for a score by Eric Allen, and a 48-yard touchdown pass by quarterback Mack Brown to James Hensley capped the comeback, giving Baker a 17-10 lead with 14:04 remaining in the contest.

However, Culver-Stockton (3-7, 3-7) sent the game to overtime thanks to a 26-yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Peyton to Ben Mohwinkle with 3:58 left.

After Culver-Stockton converted the field goal on its overtime possession, Baker had the chance to answer, but came up empty when Ryan Smith’s 42-yard field-goal attempt missed wide left.

Brown finished 18-of-29 for 174 yards and the one touchdown for Baker, which will close out its 2006 campaign next Saturday at home against Lindenwood (Mo.) in a 1 p.m. kickoff at Liston Stadium.
