Olathe ? Haskell Indian Nations University overcame a 15-point second-half deficit but fell to Columbia (Mo.) College, 57-53, in its men’s basketball season opener Friday night in the MidAmerica Nazarene Classic.

Kirk Brown led the Fightin’ Indians with 24 points and eight rebounds, and Donavan Begay added 10 points.

Haskell trailed by 15 points early in the second half before going on a 19-2 run to take the lead by two points with 41â2 minutes remaining.

Columbia regained the lead, then hit two free throws with two seconds remaining.

Haskell (0-1) will face either Calvay Bible or MidAmerica Nazarene at 6 tonight in Olathe.
