Old home town – 100 years ago today

From the Lawrence Daily World for May 30, 1906: “The Automobile club met and adopted a constitution and by-laws. It is probable the group will stage an auto parade as part of July 4 festivities. : The two Thorntons accused of the Wolfson pawn shop burglary must stand trial in district court and their bonds have been set at $1,500. : The systematic plan which the City Council inaugurated last year to cut down high hills and fill in hollows on streets is beginning to show results in the paving program. The changes in the amounts of dirt in the right places will pay good dividends.”
