Jeff Novorr, privacy officer and vice president for corporate compliance at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, has been appointed to the 2006 Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

The award, created by Congress in 1987 to encourage businesses and organizations to practice effective quality control, is considered the highest level of national recognition for performance excellence that a U.S. organization can receive.

As an examiner, Novorr is responsible for reviewing and evaluating applications submitted for the award.

The board’s members, about 500 of them, are considered leading experts selected from industry, professional and trade organizations, education and health care organizations, and government.

Novorr, a recent graduate of the Leadership Lawrence program, has worked for LMH for five years and has 10 years of experience in health care administration.

Awards may be given annually in each of five categories: manufacturing, service, small business, education and health care. Baldrige Awards have been presented to 66 organizations.
