Scholarships offered in recycling contest

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment will offer a recycling contest this summer that will offer college students a chance to earn scholarships.

The summer contest, part of the “Get Caught Recycling” campaign, is open to any individual, business or organization. The top prizes will be scholarships for use at any public or private university, college or technical school.

As part of the contest, the KDHE is requesting videos, photos, Web sites, artwork, audio or essays that portray a person in the act of recycling.

The grand prize is a $2,500 Learning Quest College Savings Account. Ten $500 accounts will be awarded, and one $100 cash prize will be given to an entry from each Kansas county.

All entries must be postmarked by Aug. 21. For rules or an entry form, visit www.getcaughtrecycling.org, or call 1-800-282-9790.
