Law enforcement report

¢ A 19-year-old Lawrence High School student was arrested Monday after trying to use a $20 counterfeit bill to get change at the high school. It was spotted by a staff member and reported to police.

¢ The Douglas County Sheriff’s drug dog, Gero, has been called twice in recent days to assist agencies with car stops. One was in Baldwin on Saturday, and the other was in the 500 block of Monterey Way on Friday. No drugs were found in either case.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ Lawrence Police on Tuesday morning assisted the Kansas City, Mo., police department in recovering a stolen 2006 Dodge Charger valued at $26,000 from the 2200 block of Haskell Avenue.

¢ A 40-year-old Topeka man was storing his $4,000 boat in a vacant office building at 725 N. Second St.and found it missing when he went to check it Saturday. There was no sign of forced entry.

¢ A Lawrence woman was issued a notice to appear in court after allegedly stealing a pregnancy test from Round Corner, 801 Mass. The theft happened about 4 p.m. Monday. Police found a discarded, used test in bushes behind Marks Jewelers.

Injury accident

¢ An 18-year-old Lawrence resident was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital early Tuesday morning after striking a parked car in the 400 block of Missouri Street. According to a report, Christopher H. Boyle was driving north on Missouri Street about 3:05 a.m. in a 1993 Chrysler when he drifted left of the center line and struck the parked car. He was not wearing a seat belt, and police believe alcohol was a contributing factor.
