¢ Soccer Connection: Lyndsay Conrad, whose husband Jimmie Conrad was named to the U.S. World Cup soccer team, is a law clerk for Lawrence’s Deanell Reece Tacha, judge of the 10th circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals. Jimmie Conrad plays for the Kansas City Wizards.

¢ Skepnek Hole-in-One: Bill Skepnek used a pitching wedge to ace the 110-yard No. 2 hole last week at Alvamar Country Club. Witnesses were Brennan Fagan, Dixie Greeno, Karleen Noller, Linda Randall and Linda Swain.

¢ Roberts Champ: Conrad Roberts fired a two-under-par 70 and won Saturday’s Jayhawk Golf Club tournament at Alvamar by eight strokes over Chris Anderson. Brian Tuttle shot 79. Tom Zacharias and Kent Beisner each carded 81. In net scoring, Bud Stagg and Rob Werling were low, each with a 70. Bob Losasso and Don Schulenberg shot 71. Chris Anderson had a 72.

¢ Boeck Winner: Dee Boeck of Lawrence posted the fastest time in the women’s 55-59 age group (1:48:06) in a half-marathon event Sunday in Lincoln, Neb.

¢ Heitzman Record: Paul Heitzman of Eudora won the ages 75-79 division of the Kansas Two-Mile Championships on Saturday in Hutchinson in an age-group record time of 14:05. The previous record was 16:17.

¢ Sandrats 1-2-3: Caleb Chatfield, Travis Englebert and Steve Riley, all members of the Lawrence Sandrats, earned the top three spots respectively in the 10K portion of Saturday’s Heart and Sole Run in Olathe. Lawrence’s Fran Breslauer won the women’s ages 65-69 division. In the 5K, Rick West of Lawrence won the men’s 60-64 group.

¢ LHS Track Camp: Lawrence High Speed and Jump Camp will run Mondays through Thursdays for three weeks starting June 12. Ninety-minute sessions for youths entering grades 5-12 will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the LHS track. For information, call Scott Stidham at 832-5050.

¢ Cubs Champs Again: Lawrence Pizza Hut Cubs won their second U-13 AA 3&2 tournament last weekend in Overland Park. Team members are Trent Robb, Aaron Gile, Jordan Parsons, Austin Clapp, Zach Pence, Cody Oller, Matt Cole, Sha Detwiler, Alex Laughlin, Steve Cowser and Corbin Francisco.
