Your sombrero might get a little damp this morning. But you’re unlikely to get soaked if you’re heading out to celebrate Mexico’s Cinco de Mayo national holiday this afternoon, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“We have had isolated showers rolling through,” Schack said. However, just cloudy and cool weather is expected for the rest of the day, she said.

Lawrence had 0.03 of an inch of rain overnight, she said. At 7:45 a.m.., Lawrence Municipal Airport’s temperature was 51 degrees, the humidity was 89 percent and winds were calm.

The average low temperature for this date is 53 degrees. The record low was 33 degrees, set in 1944.

The average high temperature for this date is 74 degrees. The record high was 94 degrees, set in 1952.

Today’s high will climb to 60 degrees, Schack said.

“We will stay well below average,” she said.

Clouds will linger around overnight, with the temperatures dropping to 46 degrees by early Saturday morning, she said.

Saturday will also be mostly cloudy, with afternoon showers staying to the south of Lawrence, she said. Saturday’s high will be 63 degrees, she said.

Sunday’s morning low will be 49 degrees, climbing to a high of 68 degrees on Sunday afternoon, with some sunshine, Schack said.
