U.S. 59 wreck that killed one still under investigation

The Douglas County Sheriff’s office on Monday was still investigating the cause of a wreck Saturday at Baldwin Junction that killed 19-year-old Jennifer A. Jamison of Spring Hill.

Jamison was driving a Honda Civic west on U.S. Highway 56 and was struck by a northbound Dodge Dakota pickup truck as she crossed U.S. Highway 59. A passenger in her vehicle, Laura J. Miller, 19, was listed in serious condition Monday at Kansas University Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified Monday as Chauncey Russell, 20, Ottawa. He was not seriously injured.

Previously the sheriff’s office had given Jamison and Miller’s ages as 20.
