Trumps are new parents

New York – Donald Trump has a new apprentice.

Trump’s wife, Melania Knauss Trump, gave birth to a boy Monday, the billionaire developer announced.

“Everyone’s perfect,” Trump said in a telephone interview on MSNBC’s “Imus in the Morning,” about 20 minutes after the arrival of his fifth child.

The boy has been named Barron William Trump, said Knauss Trump’s spokeswoman, Courtney Houghton.

In a statement on her Web site, the new mom said the youngest Trump weighed in at 8 1/2 pounds and was 21 inches long.

“I continue to stay young, right? I produce children, I stay young,” said the 59-year-old Trump. The baby is Trump’s fifth child and his wife’s first.

The tycoon’s first wife, Ivana Trump, is the mother of Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric, who are all in their 20s. Preteen Tiffany is the daughter of Trump’s second wife, Marla Maples.

Knauss Trump, 35, is a Slovenian-born model who has appeared in numerous print ads and on the covers of Vogue and British GQ magazines. Trump’s reality show “The Apprentice,” is in its fifth cycle.

The couple married in January 2005.

Della Reese to launch plus-size clothing line

Los Angeles – Della Reese is tired of boring clothes for larger women. So the plus-size actress and singer has started her own clothing line.

“It’s very difficult for me to find anything with shape or color … some oomph,” said Reese, who described herself as 5 feet 2 inches tall and 200 pounds.

Reese, 74, has designed her own vividly hued outfits for years. Her line, Della Reese Fashions, will debut April 4 on the Home Shopping Network.

“I want to give women the opportunity to have some pizazz also,” said Reese, who starred in TV’s “Touched by an Angel.”

Her line of cocktail, office and casual wear will feature a range of colors.

“I like bright yellows, oranges, reds. I like purple and pink, not just purple and purple and purple,” she said.

Reese is also an activist against diabetes and a church pastor. Four months ago, she received a doctorate in divinity from the University of Metaphysics in Sedona, Ariz.

‘Brokeback Mountain’ due on DVD April 4

Los Angeles – Fans who can’t quit “Brokeback Mountain” will be able to watch the film at home on DVD starting April 4, even as the Oscar winner still plays in movie theaters – a rare overlap.

The film’s pre-Oscar buzz extended its theater run, bumping into the DVD release, even though the gay romance lost the best picture Academy Award to “Crash.”

The DVD is expected to sell for $29.98. The film opened in theaters Nov. 30 and has grossed $81 million to date.

Pacino to play Herod

Los Angeles – Al Pacino will star as King Herod in a Los Angeles stage production of Oscar Wilde’s “Salome.”

The one-act biblical drama is scheduled to run from April 14 to May 14 at the Wadsworth Theatre.

Pacino will play the king who lusts after his wife’s daughter, Salome, played by Jessica Chastain. Actor Kevin Anderson plays John the Baptist, Salome’s object of affection and later revenge.

Pacino, 65, worked with director Estelle Parsons for two years developing the 2003 Broadway version of the play. Parsons will also direct the Los Angeles production.

Tickets go on sale March 26.

Two more years of ‘Simpsons’

Fox has ordered up two more seasons of the Emmy Award-winning series “The Simpsons,” guaranteeing that Homer and his clan will keep going through a 19th season in 2008.

The two-year renewal ensures that the popular animated sitcom – the longest-running prime-time series on the air – will rack up its 400th episode in the next two years.

Created by cartoonist Matt Groening, the loopy series holds Guinness World Record titles for longest-running animated series in TV history, longest-running comedy on the tube (surpassing “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet”), and most guest stars in a TV series.

The show’s principal voices – Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria – threatened to go on strike a few years ago until they got better deals, but all are said to be locked in for the duration of the new pact.

Meanwhile, a big-screen “Simpsons” is definitely in the works and will likely debut at the end of the series’ run, whenever that finally happens.
