¢ Volleyball Clinic: Girls in grades 4 through 8 are eligible for four Saturday city volleyball clinics starting April 1 at the Holcom Park Rec Center. Registration deadline is March 23. Forms are available at all rec centers and at www.lprd.org. For information, call 832-7940.

¢ Mat Gold: Julian Kuszmaul of Lawrence Coyotes Wrestling Club earned a gold medal at the sub-district qualifier at Shawnee Heights. Silver medals went to Levi Green, Corbin Schmidt, Payton Covert, Shelby Bowman and Chris Berg. Bronze medalists were Logan Harrell, Brian Cain, Penny Khairhianthong and Zach Toelkes. Fourth places were earned by Nathan Wycoff, Andy Jones and Kenny Flanders.

¢ Force Girls Second: Kaw Valley Force U-14 girls finished

second at a 4V4 tournament in Manhattan. Team members are Hannah Carlson, Jordan Payne, Sara Schneider, Rachael Hodison, Olivia Dykes, Kaley Tesdahl and Grace Lang. Riny de Boer is the coach.

¢ Heitzman Record: Paul Heitzman of Eudora set a state 5k record for the men’s 75-79 age-group Saturday in the Shamrock Shuffle. Heitzman’s clocking of 22:31 broke the record by more than a minute and a half.

¢ Riley Masters Champ: Steve Riley of Lawrence won the men’s masters division of the St. Pat’s 10k Saturday in Manhattan. Lawrence’s Diane Waltho finished second in the women’s 50-54 age group.

¢ Kings titlists: The Lawrence Kings third-grade boys basketball squad won the Kansas USSSA State Tournament on March 5. Team members are Anthony Bonner, Scott Frantz, Spencer Grob, Weston Hack, Andrew Keating, Keegan McKinney and Kevin Puryear. The coaches are Sebastian Bonner and Joe Keating.
