Mild day in the offing, temperatures in the 50s

In contrast to the wild weather on Sunday, conditions will be mild today and the rest of this week.

“No problems on the way out this morning,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, there will be statewide tornado drills at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon. However, there is no cause for alarm. “No thunderstorms in the forecast,” said Schack.

At 8:23 this morning, the temperature was 28 degrees, humidity was 85%, and the winds were calm. Average temperature for this date is 57 degrees, with the record high of 80 degrees set in 1955.

Today’s temperatures will right on track for this time of year, with a high of 59 degrees. Winds will be from the west at about 5 to 15 mph. Schack said, “There is a low batch of clouds coming this way, thinning as they move. A few more clouds will be in the skies tomorrow.”

Wednesday’s high will be warmer at 65 degrees and a small chance of showers late in the day. Temperatures will drop for the rest of the week, with a high of 47 on Thursday and in the mid-40s through the weekend.
