Roger Hill Volunteer Center announces the 2006 Day of Caring, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 29. Registration forms are being accepted for individuals and groups interested in volunteering for this annual event that brings together hundreds of organizations, businesses, families and individuals to spend the morning volunteering on behalf of dozens of community organizations. Projects may include painting, cleaning, archiving, organizing and yard care on behalf of local nonprofit organizations and community members in need. Immediate volunteer needs

¢ The Friends of the Lawrence Public Library is currently seeking temporary volunteers to assist with setup for its book sale. The sale helps the library raise money to buy special books and equipment and finance literacy events and special programs. Volunteer help is needed Tuesday, March 28, through Tuesday, April 4. ¢ Jubilee Cafe seeks community volunteers to assist with food preparation, wait-staff duties, setup and cleanup for the free breakfast restaurant from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday, March 21 and 24, during Spring Break. The mission of Jubilee Cafe is to serve homeless and in-need neighbors with dignity and respect while enhancing self-esteem and promoting wellness among restaurant guests and volunteers. Individuals may volunteer without prior registration by arriving at the First United Methodist Church, 946 Vt., between 6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on any Tuesday or Friday. Groups of five or more volunteers must register in advance by calling 864-4073 or by e-mail at jubilee@ku.edu.

¢ Trinity In-Home Care provides in-home services to older adults and individuals of all ages with disabilities to promote independence and provide relief to caregivers. Trinity needs a volunteer for an ongoing office position. The time commitment is two to four hours each week, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Responsibilities include copying, using a paper cutter, shredding and filing. The position is at the Trinity office, 2201 W. 25th St., Suite Q. ¢ Operation WildLife seeks volunteer wildlife caretakers and front office assistants. Duties may include caring for animals, answering animal intake calls from the general public, some housekeeping duties, some computer work, other administrative duties and some work directly with the animal population, such as feeding baby birds.
