¢ Salvatore Shines: Genny Salvatore of Lawrence Gymnastics Club won the Level 10 beam and finished second in the vault at a meet in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was fifth in the all-around. Teammate Jen Hornbaker was sixth in floor exercise, seventh on the bars and eighth in all-around. LGC’s April Miller was sixth in the vault. At Level 7, Jacqueline Zaitz won the vault, was sixth on the beam and seventh in all-around. At Level 9, Ashley Sakumura was fifth on the bars, seventh on the beam and 10th in all-around.

¢ Volleyball Meeting: An organizational meeting for city adult spring volleyball will be at 7 tonight at the Community Building.

¢ Swim Gold: Adriane Black, Jessica Boyer, Elizabeth Padgett and Maryanne Smith of the Lawrence Aquahawks won two gold medals apiece at the Missouri Valley Div. II swim championships in Springfield, Mo. The Aquahawks’ Rachel Buchner and Kayla Hodges captured one event each.

¢ Volley camps: Lawrence High volleyball coach Molly LaMere and assistant Washburn volleyball coach Trent Jones will play host to a summer-skills camp for fourth to ninth graders June 26-28 at South Junior High. ¢ Chance, Fornelli honored: Daniel Chance and Tor Fornelli of the Kaw Valley Force U-14 White team have been tapped to join the 2006 Kansas Olympic Development Program team and will attend the regional ODP soccer camp this summer in Rockford, Ill. The U-14 White team is coached by Aaron Siebert.

¢ Hoopsters Runner-Up: Lawrence Hoopsters fourth-grade boys finished second in the Kansas USSSA basketball tournament in Shawnee and qualified for the national meet this summer in Fort Wayne, Ind. Team members are Keith Loneker Jr., Hunter Fellers, Cole Moreano, Zach McNabb, Joe Dineen, Stan Skwarlo, Saxon Mingus and Bryce MontesDeOca. Coaches are Rick McNabb and Keith Loneker.
