Pizza robbery second at same location

For the second time in two nights, a Lawrence pizza-delivery driver has been robbed at gunpoint at the same vacant apartment.

A 20-year-old delivery driver for Gumby’s pizza told police he was called sometime around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday to apartment No. 404 at Trailridge Apartments, 2500 W. Sixth St. Once there, he told officers, a man approached him from behind, pointed a gun and stole $150 in cash and his wireless phone.

That was on the heels of a similar robbery of a Domino’s delivery driver at the same spot about 24 hours earlier.

The description of the suspect in both incidents was similar: a black man between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, in his mid-20s, with a dark “hoodie” sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lawrence Police Department or the Crime Stoppers hot line: 843-TIPS.

An article in Tuesday’s Journal-World gave the incorrect name of the apartment complex.
