From the Lawrence Daily World for June 16, 1906: “The Crawley auto frightened a team of horses hitched to a farm wagon on South Massachusetts today and in the runaway that followed, the wagon was demolished. Nobody was hurt. : The baseball game yesterday between Haskell and local boys brought only $15 in receipts. The game had been put off from Sunday because Christians opposed Sabbath baseball. They said they would support the teams at other times, but where were they and their ministers yesterday?”
