Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for June 3, 1906: Today was the day of Exodus. Every outgoing train was literally loaded with university students going home for the summer, some looking happy, others looking woe-be-gone at leaving. . . . The home of Will Parsons was robbed last night and the local police, as is the invariable rule of late, have apprehended no one. This makes more than a dozen burglaries since the new marshal came in and the police have failed in every instance to arrest anyone.
