A Santa Fe train collided with a stalled, unoccupied car on the Lakeview-Lecompton road. KU students Arthur Baum and Ann Appleton had fled the inoperative car on the tracks when they heard the train coming out of the night. Damage was estimated at $10,000.

A “phantom” car was recovered from Potter Lake on the Kansas University campus. It apparently belonged to Roland Lamb. Police had no idea how the car had gone into the lake after Lamb had parked the vehicle and later reported it stolen. Yet there were no tracks to indicate where the car might have entered the lake, either by accident or design.
