New York ? Johnny Damon hit a pair of home runs, and Mike Mussina won his fifth straight decision, leading the New York Yankees over Tampa Bay, 4-2, Sunday.

Mussina (13-3) allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings. Damon hit his 12th homer off James Shields (4-5) in the fifth inning. He connected again in the seventh.

Minneapolis – Michael Cuddyer hit a two-run triple in Minnesota’s six-run eighth inning. Jeremy Bonderman fell to 11-5.

Orioles 8, White Sox 7

Baltimore – Javy Lopez’s bases-loaded single in the ninth inning off Bobby Jenks capped a two-run comeback. Jenks (2-3) had converted 19 straight save opportunities. Eddy Rodriguez (1-1) worked the ninth for the win.

Mariners 7, Indians 3

Cleveland – Jose Lopez and Raul Ibanez each had two-run singles with two outs in the ninth. Jacob Woods (3-1) pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the win, and J.J. Putz escaped a jam in the ninth for his 22nd save in 26 chances.

Athletics 6, Blue Jays 5

Oakland, Calif. – Milton Bradley hit a three-run shot for his first career walkoff home run. Bradley sent a 2-1 pitch from B.J. Ryan (1-1) over the center-field wall for his sixth homer to give him four RBIs.

Angels 10, Red Sox 4

Boston – Orlando Cabrera, Vladimir Guerrero and Juan Rivera hit third-inning homers to send Curt Schilling to his first loss at Fenway Park this year, and John Lackey pitched six solid innings. Lackey (10-6) allowed three earned runs, nine hits and two walks, striking out six batters.

Mets 10, Braves 6

Atlanta – Carlos Beltran hit two homers, including his third grand slam in July, and the New York Mets completed their first sweep of at least three games in Atlanta in 21 years.

Diamondbacks 7, Astros 6

Houston – Conor Jackson hit a go-ahead homer off Brad Lidge in the ninth inning. Clemens had a season-high nine strikeouts in seven sharp innings and left with a 5-1 lead.

Brewers 4, Reds 3

Milwaukee – Ben Sheets allowed two runs in eight-plus innings, and newcomer Kevin Mench drove in four runs.

Cubs 6, Cardinals 3

Chicago – Carlos Zambrano won his ninth straight decision. It marked Chicago’s first four-game sweep of the Cardinals at Wrigley Field since 1972 and left the Cardinals 0-7 this season at the Cubs’ home park.

Denver – Matt Holliday homered and Jason Jennings pitched seven solid innings for his first win in a month.

Dodgers 4, Nationals 3

Los Angeles – Cesar Izturis doubled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, and the Dodgers smashed three home runs.

Pirates 2, Giants 1

Pittsburgh – Jose Hernandez’s single in the 10th inning scored Jack Wilson as the Pirates completed a sweep.

Phillies 11-9, Marlins 5-2

Philadelphia – Chase Utley homered and extended his hitting streak to 31 games, and Ryan Howard hit his NL-leading 35th homer in Game 2. Aaron Fultz (2-0) allowed two runs in 22â3 innings of relief to win the first game. Anibal Sanchez (4-1) was the losing pitcher.
