Weekend vandalism damages Haskell pool

Someone caused between $15,000 and $20,000 damage to the pool and equipment at Haskell Indian Nations University in two incidents during the weekend.

First, someone sneaked into the pool between 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday and discharged a fire extinguisher into the pool.

Then around 11 a.m. Sunday, an employee discovered more extensive damage: items including a shed, weight equipment, fans, floor buffers and lifeguard chairs had been thrown into the pool.

Also damaged were a set of hanging lights and ceiling tiles. The doors to the pool had been locked, Haskell employees told police.
