Bugle corps to visit Lawrence on Monday

The Colts drum and bugle corps based in Dubuque, Iowa, will stop in Lawrence on Monday for a rehearsal.

About a dozen of the 135 corps members are from Lawrence, Topeka or the Kansas City area. Recent Free State High School graduates Keenan Cox, Aaron Hudson and Chris Hansen are playing on the summer tour. Assistant Lawrence High School band director Patrick McCarty will play host to the corps during its day in Lawrence.

The tour includes travel of more than 12,000 miles in 15 states during 11 weeks this summer, and it will end with a championship competition at the University of Wisconsin in early August. After stopping in Lawrence, the corps will head to Pittsburgh State University.

The Colts will rehearse from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at LHS, 1901 La. The corps will spend 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The rehearsals are free and open to the public.
