Worried about your safety when coming to downtown Lawrence to go to a bar or watch a concert?

A public meeting to discuss downtown, bar and entertainment venue safety will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Lawrence City Commission chambers at city hall, 6 East Sixth Street.

The city is inviting downtown business owners and patrons who use bars and entertainment spots to participate.

The meeting will include a discussion of programs and options to address downtown safety and some options presented to the city commission last month, such as creating entertainment club licensing, security licensing, a system for bar watch, club watch and pub watch and also a downtown camera system.
