Veritas, Seabury suffer setbacks

? Despite scoring just 15 points Thursday night, the news wasn’t all bad for Seabury Academy’s high school girls basketball squad.

“I was proud the girls never gave up,” Seabury coach Nick Taylor said after a 53-15 loss to Pomona in the West Franklin Invitational. “They kept playing hard.”

Lindsey Ahlen led the Seahawks with eight points. Molly Thurman, Bria Phipps and Laura Hoffmann scored two apiece, and Melissa Burch had one point.

Seabury, shut out in the second quarter, trailed 31-5 at halftime.

“The first quarter, we played well to stay with them,” Taylor said. “In the second quarter, they kind of put it to us and didn’t look back after that.

Seabury (4-8) will to travel Tuesday to Topeka to play Heritage Christian.
