Two planes make emergency landings

? A US Airways plane was forced to make an emergency landing on one engine at Philadelphia International Airport, authorities said.

The crew of Flight 4455, a twin-engine turboprop, declared an emergency Sunday about 20 minutes after taking off from Philadelphia bound for Baltimore-Washington International Airport, US Airways spokesman Carlo Bertolini said.

“One of the engines was shut down,” he said.

A Delta Song flight headed from Florida to Connecticut also made an emergency landing Sunday.

The plane, a Boeing 757, took off from Tampa, Fla., at 6:35 p.m., but then landed at Savannah, Ga., after an electrical short produced smoke in the cockpit, the airline said.
