Bright but blustery day ahead

Windchills of 30s or below expected through afternoon

Pull out the sunglasses and grab a coat – a bright but blustery day is in store for the Lawrence area, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“After the clouds push out for the morning, we have all sunshine for the rest of the day,” Schack said. “Remember to take a coat because windchills are in the teens this morning and will stay in the 30s this afternoon.”

At 12:55 p.m., the temperature was 37 degrees, the humidity was 52 percent and winds were from the northwest at 15 to 21 mph, making the windchill 28 degrees.

Today’s high will climb to 43 degrees, Schack said.

“It looks like 40s today, then a couple of days in the 50s,” Schack said. The wind speed will decrease tonight and become southwesterly, with clear skies and temperatures dropping into the 20s.

Wednesday’s early morning low will be 21 degrees, with Wednesday’s high climbing to 53 degrees. Skies will be partly cloudy.

Thursday’s morning low will be 32 degrees, with Thursday’s high climbing to 53 degrees, she said. Thursday’s skies will have high clouds.
