Old home town – 25 years ago today

Members of the Community Development Block Grant Advisory Board took a knife to several city-sponsored proposals for CD funding but gave preliminary approval to others. CD money, which in 1981 was expected to be about $825,000, was distributed by the federal department of housing and urban development and was used to aid low-to-moderate income families in six central city neighborhoods.

Sherry Schaub, Quaker Oats plant manager, was named president of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce for the coming year.
