Sunshine returns this afternoon

Weekend forecast calls for temperatures in 50s

Strong winds were howling through Lawrence this morning, keeping windchills in the mid 20s, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“What a windy start. When you head outside the door today, make sure you have a coat,” Schack said.

At 7:10 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 37 degrees, the humidity was 61 percent and winds were from the north-northwest at 29 mph, making the windchill 24 degrees.

Overnight, Lawrence got a trace of rain, she said.

“We are not expecting any more precipitation,” Schack said. “We have some clouds around for the morning, breaking up by noon hour, then all sunshine this afternoon.”

Today’s high will be 46 degrees, with winds expected to be between 15 to 25 mph from the northwest.

Overnight, the temperature will fall to 24 degrees by early Saturday morning.

“It looks like a great weekend,” Schack said.

Saturday will be sunny, with the high reaching 55 degrees.

Sunday will also be mild, with the low starting at 36 degrees and the high will be 58 degrees.
