DirecTV settlement nets Kansas $100K

Kansans will share $100,000 from a $5 million settlement between DirecTV and 21 states and the District of Columbia where consumers complained about the company’s deceptive and misleading advertising practices.

DirecTV last month settled complaints that it had placed small, unreadable print in its advertising and that some consumers hadn’t received access to local channels they had been expecting.

No decisions have been made about how much money individual consumers will receive from the settlement, said Whitney Watson, a spokesman for Kansas Atty. Gen. Phill Kline.

Consumers who believe they may be entitled to payments may contact the office’s consumer protection division at (800) 432-2310.
