Winter makes a comeback

Say goodbye to the weekend’s spring-like warm temperatures.

Cloudy skies, cool temperatures and northerly winds are giving more of a winter feel to Lawrence’s weather forecast today, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“The temperature is only headed into the low 40s,” Schack said. And winds at 8 to 12 mph will make it feel even colder, she said.

At 8 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 38 degrees, the humidity was 79 percent and winds were out of the north at 5 mph, making the windchill 34 degrees. Today’s high is expected to be 42 degrees. The average high temperature for this date is 39 degrees and the average low is 20.

“We will stay with the cloud cover for the morning, then a little bit of sunshine in the afternoon,” Schack said.

Overnight, the temperature will drop to 27 degrees by early Tuesday morning.

But warmer temperatures return Tuesday. Schack said Lawrence will get more sunshine on Tuesday, with the high temperature climbing to 48 degrees by Tuesday afternoon. Winds will be light and variable.

Mostly sunny conditions are expected on Wednesday. Wednesday’s morning low will be 30 degrees and the high temperature will climb to 56 degrees by Wednesday afternoon.
