Six Nets double up in win

? Jason Kidd’s 69th career triple-double helped New Jersey to its ninth straight victory.

Kidd had 16 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds, and the Nets beat the Magic, 113-106, Friday night.

Vince Carter scored 31 points to lead six Nets players in double figures. Richard Jefferson added 15 points, Nenad Krstic had 14, and reserves Clifford Robinson and Jacque Vaughn each scored 10.

Friday night was the first time that the Nets had played since beating Atlanta on Dec. 30, giving them a stretch of six days without action.

“I got fresh legs,” Kidd said. “We understood what was at stake. We didn’t want to go out on the road, losing a game after a long layoff.”

Toronto – Toronto’s Mike James had 30 points, eight assists and seven rebounds against his former team.

Boston – Joe Johnson, who finished with 20 points, hit a jumper with 1:12 left to give Atlanta a 100-98 lead. Paul Pierce missed a potential game-tying three-point attempt with 14.9 second remaining.

New York – New York rookie Channing Frye matched his season high with 30 points, including 11 during a decisive 15-4 run in the third quarter.

Oklahoma City – Kirk Snyder scored a career-high 22 points as the Hornets recovered from the loss of point guard Chris Paul, who left because of a sprained thumb.

Memphis, Tenn. – Pau Gasol scored 27 points and matched his career high with 18 rebounds to help snap the Jazz’s five-game winning streak. Gasol also had seven assists and four blocks.

San Antonio – Tony Parker scored 23 points, and the San Antonio Spurs reversed their poor foul shooting in the final quarter.

Denver – Devin Harris found himself wide-open with 2.2 seconds left in overtime, taking a pass from Josh Howard and easily making the winning layup.

Sacramento, Calif. – Mike Bibby scored 11 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter, and Brad Miller had 26 points and a huge defensive play in the final seconds of Sacramento’s 11th straight victory over the Clippers.

Phoenix – Steve Nash broke the Suns record and tied for second-most assists in a quarter in NBA history with 12 in a 47-point first quarter for Phoenix.

Los Angeles – Kobe Bryant returned from a two-game suspension to hit all seven of his three-point shots and score 48 points, helping the Lakers end a five-game losing streak.
