Boeing sets record

Boeing Co. said Thursday it set a company record for commercial airplane orders in 2005, as it more than tripled the number of jet orders from the previous year.

The Chicago company said it had received 1,002 net airplane orders during 2005, topping the 877 net orders booked in 1988.

In 2004, Boeing had 272 net commercial airplane orders.
