Girl Scouts in the Douglas County area will open cookie sales for the year with a kickoff party on Friday.

About 380 Girl Scouts and Brownies are expected to attend the party from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Southwest Junior High School.

During the party, Girl Scouts will taste the two new cookie flavors introduced this year and take part in other activities.

The scouts will begin taking orders for cookie sales Friday until Jan. 18.
