Another warm day – at least for January

Lawrence will get another day of mostly blue skies and above-average temperatures, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“It will be partly cloudy today, with temperatures in the 40s,” Schack said. The average high temperature for this date is 39 degrees, while the average morning low is 21.

Temperatures were starting out in the 30s this morning, she said.

At 8:15 a.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 33 degrees, the humidity was 82 percent and winds were from the northwest at 8 mph, with the windchill at 26 degrees. Skies were mostly clear, with a few mid-level and high-level clouds.

Today’s high will reach 46 degrees, with winds from the northwest at 10 to 15 mph, she said. The record high for this date is 67 degrees, set in 1956. The record low is minus 16 degrees, set in 1924, she said.

Overnight, skies will be mostly clear skies, with the temperature dropping down to 23 degrees by early Friday morning, she said.

Friday will be another mild day, with the afternoon high climbing to 46 degrees, with northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.

“Get ready, those 60s are heading our way for Saturday,” Schack said.

Saturday’s morning low will start at 31 degrees, climbing to a high of 64 degrees by Saturday afternoon, she said.
