Buffs’ streak hits eight; Sooners survive Tide

? Martane Freeman had 17 points and nine rebounds as Colorado extended its winning streak to eight with an 83-65 victory over struggling Dartmouth on Saturday.

Richard Roby added 13 points for Colorado (9-1), off to its best start since 1978-79 when it began 10-1. The eight-game winning streak is the school’s longest since 1961-62, when the Buffaloes won 12 in a row.

Calvin Arnold and DeVon Mosley had 11 points each for Dartmouth (1-9), losers of eight in a row. The Big Green are off to their worst start since the 1993-94 team opened the year 1-12.

Colorado saw its 17-point halftime lead reduced to 11 when Leon Pattman’s four-point play and had a rebound basket nine minutes into the second half. Michael Giovacchini got Dartmouth got even closer, 56-43, with 10:24 left, but Roby came right back with a three-pointer for Colorado to start a 10-2 run and made it a 66-48 game.

No. 14 Oklahoma 68, Alabama 56

Norman, Okla. – Oklahoma’s frontline duo of Taj Gray and Kevin Bookout combined for 31 points, and the Sooners held off Alabama.

Senior guard Terrell Everett had a career-high 10 assists for the Sooners, who extended their home winning streak against nonconference opponents to 46 games, the longest in NCAA Division I.

Oklahoma State 84, Arkansas State 64

Stillwater, Okla. – Mario Boggan scored 27 points, and JamesOn Curry added 19 as Oklahoma State beat Arkansas State. The Cowboys (9-4) rebounded from a blowout loss to Alabama-Birmingham despite missing starters Marcus Dove and David Monds to injury and reserve Torre Johnson to suspension.

Texas A&M 73, Northwestern State 61

College Station, Texas – Joseph Jones had 22 points and nine rebounds in Texas A&M’s victory. Marlon Pompey added a career-high 16 points off the bench, 12 in the first half, as the Aggies improved to 10-0 for the second consecutive season. Northwestern State (7-5) was within eight with just under five minutes remaining.

Fla. State 74, Nebraska 60

Sunrise, Fla. – Isaiah Swann scored a season-high 16 points, and Andrew Wilson added 15 to help Florida State extend its winning streak to seven games. Al Thornton had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Seminoles (9-1).
