Douglas County Family and Community Education in cooperation with K-State Research and Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is offering a program, “Identity Theft,” at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St.

The program will be presented by Emile Burdette, of the state attorney general’s office. He will talk about how to thwart identity theft as well as what to do if you become a victim.

To register, call the Extension office at 843-7058. The program is open to the public.

Kanwaka 4-H Club members met Feb. 13. They talked about these upcoming events: Lawn and Garden show, Discovery Days and food fair. They decided to give shamrocks to residents at the Brandon Woods Retirement Community next month.

Members learned that they received a top purple ribbon at County Club Days in the model meeting competition Feb. 13. Other members who earned ribbons during County Club Days were Martha Kesler, Alex Price, Grace Oliver, Jenn Crawford, Joanna Wakeman and Food Choir, top purple, Stuart Wakeman, Joanna Wakeman, Shon Price, Jenn Crawford, blue; and Maggy Kesler, red.

For the program, Shon Price played the snare drums and Alex Price gave a presentation on how to refinish a piece of furniture.

The Clinton Eagles 4-H Club met Jan. 23 at Wakarusa Valley School. The meeting was called to order by Kahlyn Heine, president. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite winter activity.

Kasey Garzillo and Maria Penrod, song leaders, the club in singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” in frog ribbits.

Katy Jones, parliamentarian, taught members how to properly make a motion. Lanaea Heine, community leader, talked about County Club Days and the food fair. The budget committee presented the 2006 budget, which was approved by the club. Carnell Atkins joined the club.

Nicki Snodgrass and Maddie Gosha, recreation leaders, led the club in playing octopus.
