Baldwin boys clamp down on Eudora; Tongie boys break through

? Sam Scott led a Baldwin defense that held Eudora’s Rodney Spillman to nine points in the Bulldogs’ 59-50 victory over their Frontier League rival Tuesday night.

Scott also added 15 rebounds, and teammate Aaron Hannon led all scorers with 19 points.

Baldwin led by as many as nine points before Eudora cut the lead to 47-42, but a 6-0 Bulldog run put the game away.

The Bulldogs were 16-for-19 from the free-throw line.

Baldwin (13-6) will travel Friday to Wellsville; Eudora (13-6) will play host Friday to De Soto.

Tonganoxie 56, Perry-Lecompton 54

Perry – Tonganoxie won its first game of the season, beating Perry-Lecompton despite 19 points from the Kaws’ Chris Ketter. Tonganoxie (1-18) overcome a two-point halftime deficit with an explosive third quarter. Perry-Lecompton (5-14) will play Friday at Leavenworth Immaculata.

Ottawa 75, Central Heights 61

Ottawa – Four Ottawa players – Addison Miller, Victor Ojeleye, Phillip Sylvester and Luke Bones – scored in double figures, and the Cyclones methodically stretched their lead throughout the game. Ottawa (16-3) will play host Friday to Osawatomie.

Lansing 57, Santa Fe Trail 43

Carbondale – Lansing (10-9) opened up a seven-point lead in the first quarter. Santa Fe Trail fell to 9-10.

Oskaloosa 57, Horton 50

Oskaloosa – Joe Crawford led all scorers with 18 points for Oskaloosa, and Josh Weis chipped in 14. Oskaloosa built a commanding first-half lead and held on, improving to 11-9 overall and 5-4 in Delaware Valley League play. Oskaloosa will play Friday at Valley Falls.

Holton – Trevor Keling scored 23, and Andrew Booth had 22 in McLouth’s loss.

Osawatomie 55, Wellsville 48

Osawatomie – Four players from each team scored scored in double figures. Wellsville (12-7) will play host Friday to Baldwin.

Girls

Eudora 54, Baldwin 38

Baldwin – Eudora’s Carrie Lister scored 15 of 19 points in the first half, and the Cardinals rolled past Baldwin. Erin Kracl added 11 points, and Nikki Snider scored nine for Eudora. Colby Heckathorne and Kelsey Verhaeghe led Baldwin with nine points apiece.

Eudora (14-4) will play host Friday to De Soto.

Tonganoxie 46, Perry-Lecompton 27

Tonganoxie – Elizabeth Baska scored 18, and Shannon Carlin scored 14 to lead Tonganoxie to its 18th victory in 19 outings. The Chieftains will play Friday at Basehor-Linwood.

Horton 45, Oskaloosa 40

Oskaloosa – Megan Reed scored 12 in the loss for Oskie.

Jackson Heights 51, McLouth 38

Holton – Holly Kitterman led McLouth with 12 points.
