‘CSA’ movie heads for theaters

Kevin Willmott, the Kansas University professor who directed the 2004 mockumentary “Confederate States of America,” is premiering his film in New York City this week.

The film, which Willmott wrote and directed, imagines what life in America might have been like had the South won the Civil War.

IFC Films and Spike Lee will release the movie in New York and 19 other cities, including Kansas City, Mo., during February and March. It opens Feb. 24 in Kansas City at the Screenland, 17th and Washington streets.

In Lawrence, the film premieres on March 10 at Liberty Hall.
