OZAWKIE ? A 3-year-old boy was killed Tuesday night when he was struck by a car in a parking lot in Jefferson County, according to Kansas Highway Patrol officials.

Highway Patrol troopers responded to a call in the parking lot of Rumors restaurant, 7247 Village Drive, just outside of Ozawkie, around 7:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found the 3-year-old in very critical condition, officials said.

The child was taken by air ambulance to a Topeka hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made in the incident, and the name of the driver had not been released Tuesday night as the investigation continued.

The child’s name was also unavailable as officials waited to inform immediate family members.
