¢The Lawrence Jewish Community Center had its annual Scout Sabbath ceremony Feb. 3 during its regular service. David Berkowitz presided. Evan Mielke was recognized for having earned his Ner Tamid, the Jewish Boy Scout religious medal.

¢Cub Scout Pack 3013, chartered to Raintree Montessori School, had its monthly meeting Feb. 1. The Webelo Den led the opening and closing ceremony, while Den 2 (Wolf) led the group in singing “Home on the Range.” Each Den presented awards that members had earned since the last pack meeting. The program was presented by Operation Wildlife.

¢Cub Scout Pack 3057, chartered to the Lawrence Catholic School PTO, had a pack meeting Dec. 10. Mad Science presented a fire and ice show. The pack also met Jan. 10 to present awards, promote upcoming summer camps and get ready for the Pinewood Derby.

The Pinewood Derby was Jan. 14 at St. John the Evangelist social hall.

Winners of the den races were Kolbe Murray, first, Nathan Shobe, second, and Jack Lange, third, Webelos 2; Luke Oberrieder, first, Jakob Walter, second, and Clayton Pfeifer, third, Webelos 1; August Murphy-Beach, first, Jack Powell, second, and Elias Schneck, third, Bears; Clay Lister, first, Alex Waite, second, and Sam Witte, third, Wolf Den 5; Michael DeGrassi, first, Justin Cross, second, and Noah Malsbury, third, Wolf Den 2; and Andrew Bireta, first, Mark Smith, second, and Liam Rausch, third, Tigers.

Winners of the Pack championship were August Murphy-Beach, first; Michael DeGrassi, second; and Luke Oberrieder, Clay Lister and Andrew Bierta, third-place tie.

Winners of the family open class were Paul Bireta, first; Karen Schneck, second; and Ashley Hocking, third.

The following boys won the Scout Choice Awards: John Anderson, Tigers; Tegan Bowers, Wolf Den 2; Clay Lister, Wolf Den 5; August Murphy-Beach, Bears; Luke Fitzgerald, Webelos I; and Nathan Shobe, Webelos II.

The following Scouts won the People’s Choice Award: Daniel Murray, Tigers; Noah Malsbury, Wolf Den 2; Clay Lister, Wolf Den 5; Eric Glogau, Bears; Luke Fitzgerald, Webelos I; and Nathan Shobe, Webelos II. These Scouts received runner-up in the People’s Choice Award: Liam Rausch, Tigers; Jared Lange, Wolf Den 2; Jalen Galloway, Wolf Den 5; August Murphy-Beach, Bears; Jakob Walter, Webelos I; and Jack Lange, Webelos II.

¢Cub Scout Pack 3055, chartered to West Side Presbyterian Church, had its annual Pinewood Derby on Jan. 28 at Sunset Hill School.

The winners in each den were Sam Kendrick, first, and Michael Pate, second, Tigers; Steven Ozaki, first, Briceson Junge, second, and Jake Keary, third, Bears; Charlie Tyson, first, John Ross, second, and Jay Milliken, third, first-year Webelos; and John McCain, first, Dustin Wendt, second, and Kjell Mullenix, third, second-year Webelos.

Winners of the Pack race were John McCain, first; Steven Ozaki, second; and Dustin Wendt, third. The Kid’s Choice winner was Kjell Mullenix, and Michael Pate won for best paint job.
