From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 10, 1906: “Mrs. Mattie A. Andrews, long a well-known women’s leader here, died last evening due to burns she had received several days ago. She was badly burned when she got too close to a gas stove and her skirts were enflamed. She has been critical from the outset. Her loss is a big one for Lawrence.”
