¢Martha Boatright, daughter of Kevin and Deborah Boatright of Lawrence, made the dean’s list during the fall 2005 semester at Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio, by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

¢Fort Hays State University announced the following area students made the dean’s list during the fall 2005 semester by earning at least a 3.6 grade-point average: Caroline Selig and Justin Stevens, Lawrence; Linda Angle, McLouth; and Kindle Rose, Linwood.

Nichole Reiske and Katrina Kline, both of Lawrence, were named to the dean’s list during the fall 2005 semester at the University of Evansville, Evansville, Ind., by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average. Nichole is the daughter of Mark and Susan Reiske, and Katrina is the daughter of Larry and Helen Kline.

¢The Lawrence Accredited Music Teachers Assn. will present two recitals of advanced students Sunday at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H. They are open to the public.

¢Daniel Osborne, a senior from Tonganoxie, made the dean’s list for the fall 2005 semester at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., by earning at least a 3.0 grade-point average. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Osborne.

¢Cordley School claimed the first place trophy in the K-6 division at the Onaga High School chess tournament Jan. 28 in Onaga.

Wakarusa Valley School received the third place trophy.

Southwest Junior High School placed second in the K-12 division while South Junior High School won the second-place trophy in the K-8 division.

Lawrence’s top individual scorer in K-12 was Thomas Clark, of SWJHS, who finished third. In K-8, Nate McFadden, of SJHS, was second. Lucas Suchy, of Wakarusa Valley, finished second in K-6.

Other medal winners in K-12 were: Thomas Reams, SWJHS, sixth; Peter Lesslie, SWJHS, eighth; and Roy Wedge, Central Junior High School, ninth.

Jessica Newman, of SJHS, placed sixth in K-8.

¢Cambry McNabb, Laura King and Laura Windheuser, all of Lawrence, made the dean’s list during the fall 2005 semester at Texas Christian University, Forth Worth, Texas, by earning at least a 3.4 grade-point average.

¢Isaac Penny and Eric Southard, both of Lawrence, made faculty honors during the fall 2005 semester at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, by earning a 4.0 grade-point average.

Audrey Southard, Lawrence, made the university’s dean’s list by receiving at least a 3.0 GPA.

¢Rachael McCarthy James, Lawrence, has been named an honor student for the fall 2005 semester at Hollins University, Roanoke, Va., by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average. Rachael, a Free State High School graduate, is the daughter of Susan McCarthy and Bill James, Lawrence.
