Law enforcement report

¢ A 27-year-old Lawrence man arrested over the weekend on charges of rape, indecent liberties with a child and aggravated solicitation of a minor had his bail set at $150,000 Tuesday, Lawrence police said.

The man, whose address was listed as a homeless shelter, was arrested Dec. 22 on the charges. Police said the Douglas County District Attorney’s office should charge the man today.

Burglaries, thefts reported

¢ 400 block of North Street: A 28-year-old Lawrence man reported someone broke into a storage shed he owned and stole $300 worth of toys. No suspect has been identified.

¢ 800 block of Massachusetts Street: Lawrence police were sent to the block after reports of a possible shoplifter. An employee at Charismo, 839 Mass., pointed out a juvenile female who had been acting suspicious.

When police spoke to the girl, they found several items belonging to downtown stores including The Toy Store, 936 Mass., The Third Planet, 846 Mass., and others. The girl was released to her parent’s custody.

¢ 300 block of Settlers Drive: A 28-year-old Lawrence man reported someone broke into his 2000 Jeep Cherokee and stole about $1,000 worth of various items.

¢ 3200 block of West 22nd Terrace: Police responded Tuesday night to a report of a burglary at an apartment complex. When they arrived, police found the windows broken out of several other apartments in the complex, said Sgt. Damon Thomas, a police spokesman.

Thomas said at least four apartments in the complex had been burglarized, but he didn’t have damage estimates or what the thieves allegedly stole late Tuesday night. Police hadn’t yet identified suspects, Thomas said.
