Lawrence man injured in wreck on K-10

A Lawrence man was injured and flown to the Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., on Friday evening after a one-vehicle rollover accident on Kansas Highway 10 east of Lawrence.

Lt. Kari Wempe, a Douglas County Sheriff’s spokeswoman, said the 27-year-old man was driving a white Chevrolet Corsica before 5 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Noria Road. The car then ran off the road.

Officers were still investigating the accident and its cause, she said. Officers shut down the westbound lanes during rush hour for a period of time as they waited for a helicopter ambulance.

Wempe said she did not know the extent of the man’s injuries but that generally an air ambulance call indicates possible critical injuries.

No other vehicles or passengers were involved, Wempe said.
