Law enforcement report

¢ A 49-year-old Lawrence man suffered possible internal injuries after being beaten with an unknown object between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday at an apartment in the 1100 block of East 13th Street, according to a police report. Police responded to Lawrence Memorial Hospital to take the report, but the victim refused to make further comments. Police believe the suspect may have been under the influence of drugs, according to the report.

¢ Police responded to two burglary alarms during a half-hour period early Saturday at businesses in southern Lawrence. Officers found broken windows at both businesses. Around 3:10 a.m., an alarm came in at the Wine Cellar, 2100 W. 25th St. Police checked the business and found $300 damage to a plate-glass window. At 3:38 a.m., an alarm came in from Yello Sub, 1814 W. 23rd St. Officers found the front door’s glass damaged.

¢ A paraeducator for the Lawrence school district was jailed for outstanding parking tickets Monday after a minor fender-bender. According to a statement from the school district, a driver backed into a school district van being used to transport students in the Community Transition Program to a local store. No one was injured, but the van was damaged.

When police arrived to take the report, the officer arrested the male paraeducator who had been driving the van on a warrant for unpaid parking tickets. The district is suspending his driving privileges until he can prove he is a driver in good standing.

¢ Staff at Sunflower School, 2521 Inverness Drive, suspended a second-grade boy for bringing a plastic toy gun to school, the school district announced Monday. The school also sent a letter home with students to remind parents “to encourage their children not to bring inappropriate items to school,” a statement from the school district said.

¢ Linwood Elementary School in Leavenworth had more than $550 in cash in a box and a money bag stolen last week after someone broke into the school and took money from a file cabinet in a kitchen office, according to a Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office report. The suspect or suspects are still at large.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ 2200 block of Ousdahl Road: Staff at Schwegler School called police at noon Monday to report that a mother had her car stolen after she left it running and went inside to pick up her child.

¢ 610 Fla.: A 21-year-old Prairie Village man reported his $1,300 acoustic guitar stolen after he performed Dec. 1 at the Jet Lag Lounge. The report was released Monday.

Injury accidents

¢ A 20-year-old Lawrence woman went to the hospital during the weekend after a wreck in western Lawrence. According to a police report, Lindsey K. Pfister, 20, was driving a 2004 Hyundai west on Bob Billings Parkway about 7:15 p.m. Saturday when Ryan D. Murray, 18, Lawrence, pulled out from Chelsea Place in a 2003 Ford Taurus and the two vehicles collided. Pfister was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance, and Murray was cited for failing to yield.
