Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 12, 1906: “A.D. Weaver who annually secures a contract for a considerable amount of dry goods for agencies under the state Board of Control has just landed another big contract from the state of Kansas. The awards are made via competitive bids. : A deadbeat who ran away from a load of debts here recently has been arrested in Leavenworth. He is being charged with forgery and is to be returned here to stand trial for his illegal activities. : By the end of this week, it is probable the Eldridge House will be under new management. Negotiations have been pending with William Hutson of the Harvey firm and Mr. Colman. Miss E.D. Crawley who has been in charge has a lease running until June when it is believed changes will be made.”
