LHS peppers goal in soccer triumph

? Nine different Lions lit up the scoreboard in Lawrence High’s 9-1 soccer victory against Junction City on Tuesday.

LHS improved its record to 2-0 on the strength of goals by Kyle Craig, Skyler Workman, Dar Fornelli, Wade Billings, Michael Valverde in the first half and David Liston, Collin Flanders and Caleb Quaye in the second.

Flanders and Liston, who typically play goalkeeper, took advantage of rare scoring opportunities.

Flanders, Craig, Roush, Quaye, Greg Payne and Logan Marienau earned assists.

“We’ve had 10 different kids score goals in two games, so that’s indictaive of an unselfish team,” LHS coach David Platt said.

The Lions will play at Shawnee Heights on Thursday.
