Former Jayhawks ink free agent contracts

None of the former Kansas University football players (Charles Gordon, Charleton Keith, Nick Reid) who were considered pontential NFL draft picks were selected in this weekend’s seven-round, 255-pick draft. But all three Jayhawks had agreed to free agent contracts Sunday evening.

Reid, the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, might get a chance to play right down the road as he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, while Gordon inked with the Minnesota Vikings, and Ketih latched on with the Cleveland Browns.

Kenny Zuckerman, Gordon’s agent, told the Journal-World that the junior cornerback/receiver/ punt returner was disappointed about not getting picked up during the draft, but said if he had to do it all over again — that he would.

“With what he knows today, I still think he’d come out and give it a shot at the next level,” Zuckerman said.
