Injury accident

¢ A Lawrence man suffered a minor injury after an early Saturday morning Kansas Turnpike accident; he was later arrested and accused of drunken driving. According to a Kansas Turnpike Authority report, Evgueni P. Maradjiev, 24, was driving a 2000 Dodge Neon at 1:35 a.m. to the east on Interstate 70 near the East Lawrence exit when he tried to pass a semi-truck and lost control. His car struck the wall, went into a ditch, rolled and landed on a fence. Maradjiev wore his seat belt and suffered a laceration to his lip. He was later treated a released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital. According to Douglas County Jail records, a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper arrested him at 4:15 a.m. on charges of driving while intoxicated and having an open container. On Saturday night, he was free on $350 bond.
