Amateur photographers from around Douglas County are invited to submit an original photograph that demonstrates the many positive ways that seniors are aging in our county.

The contest is open to nonprofessional photographers residing in Douglas County. There are two age categories: one from ages 8-17 and one for ages 18 and over. Three prizes will be awarded in each category.

Douglas County Senior Services will feature the six prize winners and six honorable mentions in a 2007 calendar later this year. All entered photographs will be on exhibit during the week of May 22 at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H. A reception and awards presentation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 26 at the center.

Submit two prints of the photo suitable for framing. Photos may be in black and white or color and must be at least 5-by-7. If using a digital camera, include two prints of the photo and a copy of the digital file on a disk (floppy or CD). No other photo format will be allowed. Images made from negatives must include the original negative. Disks will not be returned.

Submit entries by noon May 5 to Douglas County Senior Services, 745 Vt., Lawrence 66044.

Entries must be submitted by 12:00pm on May 5, 2006.
