Old home town – 100 years ago today

From the Lawrence Daily World for April 29, 1906: “While Dennis Delis of Lecompton was exercising one of his horses yesterday in the company of his 6-year-old daughter, the animal became unmanageable. One of the lines dropped and both he and the girl were thrown from their cart. The child was killed instantly and the father was badly hurt. : Prof. Erich Muenter, former professor in the university German department here, is a fugitive and a warrant is out charging him with murdering his wife in Cambridge, Mass. Traces of arsenic were found in her stomach after an autopsy and the husband has been charged with the crime. : In Italy, mudslides have followed Vesuvius eruptions and more deaths are occurring.”
